Ms. Josephine Nyamai Warunge is a Public Finance and devolved governance expert with over eight (8) years of experience working with local and international NGOs, public Institutions, and private sectors within an organizational set-up and as an independent consultant. She has expertise in devolution processes, public policy analysis, advocacy, research, capacity building and learning support, and participatory budgeting and development. 

Josephine is the current Lead coordinator for the Coast Regional Budget Hub (CRBH where she provides overall leadership in planning, coordination, learning, capacity strengthening, research, policy influence, advocacy, stakeholder engagement, partnership development, documentation, and knowledge management.

She has an Academic background in International Relations and Diplomacy, with Information Technology from Maseno University, Kenya. Other professional studies include a Certificate in Transformative Leadership and Management from the Cooperative University of Kenya, a Certificate in Understanding Public Financial Management from SOAS University, London, A Diploma in Strengthening Policy Dialogue to Accelerate the Implementation of Sustainable Development Goals from Danida Fellowship Centre (DFC), Denmark and Kenya County Budget Facilitators’ Training Programme, by Bajeti Hub, former, International Budget Partnership Kenya.

She co-founded Budget Talk Global, formerly Ke Budget Talk, a women-led initiative working towards resilient and sustainable communities through tech-driven and innovative solutions. She has worked in an organizational set-up with Transparency International Kenya, The Institute of Public Finance Kenya (IPFK), and Pamoja Trust. She has also worked as an independent consultant as a researcher and trainer/facilitator for various institutions, such as International Budget Partnership Kenya (IBPK), Uraia Trust, Kwacha Africa, Development Initiative (DI), Christian Democratic Party (KrF), Norway, INKA Consult Aps, Denmark, Connected Development (CODE), Nigeria, Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (KAS) Kenya and Collaborative Africa Budget Initiative (CABRI) and Government institutions, particularly County Assemblies.

Additionally, Josephine Nyamai serves as a member of the Embassy of Denmark in Kenya/Somalia’s Youth Sounding Board (YSB), providing advice on youth-responsive interventions. She is also among the pioneers of the SDGs Village, a Joint Initiative within the People’s Dialogue Festival (PDF), organizing and leading panel discussions on public budgets, financing SDGs, debt management, youth, climate financing, and other related subjects.
